I know I'm going to be hated for this, but I'm seriously persuaded that CCP did a great job and I have to express my positive impressions, no matter if I'm going to get insulted.
Aim Assist is a great improvement. It feels perfect to me and I believe it does not need any adjustment.
Aim Assist made the Scrambler Rifle as good as the legendary and infamous AR.
Aim Assist brought back the Laser Rifle.
Aim Assist gives you the chance to outgun a Mass Driver user and people is not complaining (too much) about it anymore.
Three months ago I invited some friends to DUST and only 1 of them really liked the game and is is till playing with me. I asked the same people to retry the game now, just out of curiosity. One of them refused to download the game + patches. Another one said "it still sucks" but I believe he's just a ****. The rest of them (3 players) said positive things like "it looks pretty good now" and "it's no longer wonky and clumsy" and that aiming now is fine. They used to play BF3 and Uc3 with me, so they are used to the normal Aim Assist in those games.
This is good.
Just a side note, in Uncharted 3, when scoped in, the aim assist of some weapons (tactical semi-auto or burst rifles) is so bad-designed that the reticle sticks to one target and you can't move it to the enemy you actually want to shoot at. It also auto-tracks the target forever even if you stop doing anything except holding L1 (not 0.5-1.0m, but 3-5m). There is no way this happens in DUST.
Look at all these good things.
Please, whatever you do, do not do anything to the Aim Assist.

Godin Thekiller wrote:Scrub fears that the aimbot is going to be removed lol. A light frame can only take about 6-8 shots from a MLT PR, so with the heatseeking bullets the aimbot brought in, it's making it impossible to fight, scout, hack, etc. in one. Actually, the only viablesuits now are medium frame medium suits, because they would still move faster than heavies, and could take the insane DPS (the aimbot is so bad that you can count all the damage taken in as DPS now) to fight, scout, hack, etc. Also, if a aim assist is needed for a gun to do well, particularly if the said gun is supposed to be a mid-long range precision weapon, then it needs a rework. Nerf the aim assist, bring in a training area for scrubs (such as yourself) to learn to aim, and then add PVE for some field practice.there, fixed. Peace, Godin
1. I'm a scout and I'm doing quite fine. Even if the scout suit is the problem, not AA. Hopefully Light Frames will get some re-work.
2. You are so wrong. Aim Assist is needed for mid-long range weapons to work well in a console game because of the input sensitivity. You can't track your enemy effectively when too far away without a good aim friction.
3. I don't need aim assist to have a KDR above 3.00. The game just feels so much better now.
4. You will see how I need a training area when you will get my shotgun in your butt.

Anyway, this is feedback for CCP, so there's no point of trolling me here.
If I were a "scrub", then I would be reflecting a new or not-so-skilled player's perspective, which is valid anyway. And average or casual players do not deserve to be called scrubs just because they're not that good.
As I said I like the current AA, but what's most important is that we active / experienced players need to look in a positive way to any change that can improve the new player's experience.
I hope this is clear, because people calling themselves "veterans" and whining because now they can die faster are pathetic.
Keep the discussion, if you want, I'm just leaving this thread for CCP to see it. |
